Cookie policy
Last updated:
This page explains the cookies and similar storage used by ImgSmith, why they exist, and how to control them. It should be read with the privacy policy, which covers the wider question of what data is processed.
The tools do not need cookies
Image processing happens in the browser tab. The tools do not set cookies to upload, identify, or track your files. If you block every cookie, the compressor, resizer, watermark tool, converter, crop presets, and editor still work.
Essential storage
Essential storage is what the site needs in order to respect your choices and operate correctly. On this site that means:
- Your consent decision. When a consent management platform is active, it records whether you accepted or rejected advertising cookies so that it does not ask on every page. The record is set by that platform, not by the image tools.
- Basic interface state, where used. A preference such as a dismissed notice may be kept so the interface does not repeat itself.
Essential storage does not require consent in most jurisdictions because it is necessary to provide a function you requested or to record your privacy choice. It is not used to build an advertising profile.
Advertising cookies
The site is designed to carry advertising through Google AdSense. When advertising is enabled, Google LLC and its third-party advertising vendors may set cookies and similar identifiers to:
- Select and deliver ads.
- Limit how often the same ad is shown.
- Measure whether an ad was viewed or clicked.
- Detect invalid traffic and protect advertisers from fraud.
- Personalize ads based on previous visits to this and other sites, where consent allows it.
Google's own documentation describes the cookies it uses and how they are combined: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Cookie names and lifetimes are set by Google and can change; the authoritative list is maintained by Google, not by this site. The site's own code does not read or write advertising cookies.
Advertising is currently enabled in the site configuration. Consent for advertising cookies is collected through the consent management platform described below before ads are requested for visitors in the regions that require it.
Personalized and non-personalized ads
Personalized ads use cookie data to choose ads based on interests and previous browsing. Non-personalized ads are selected without that profile, but they can still use cookies for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud prevention. Rejecting personalization therefore does not mean that no cookie is set; it means the cookie is not used to build an interest profile for ad selection.
Consent before ads in the EEA and UK
Before advertising is served to visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) must be configured to collect consent. Google Funding Choices is one such platform. The consent banner must load before any advertising request, must explain the vendors and purposes involved, and must offer a way to reject as well as accept.
This is a configuration prerequisite, not an optional feature. If the consent layer is not in place, advertising must not be enabled for those regions. Visitors in those regions should see the consent prompt on their first visit, and their choice should be respected on later pages. Visitors outside those regions may see ads without the same prompt, depending on local law.
How to withdraw or change consent
You can change your mind at any time. The methods below work independently:
- Use the consent controls on the site. A Google-certified CMP provides a persistent way to reopen the prompt, usually through a "Privacy and cookie settings" link. Use it to withdraw consent or change which purposes you allow.
- Use Google Ad Settings. Visit adssettings.google.com to turn off personalized advertising or to see and remove interest categories associated with your Google account.
- Change your browser settings. Browsers can block third-party cookies or clear existing ones. Blocking all third-party cookies may affect sites beyond this one.
- Use an industry opt-out tool. In the United States, the Digital Advertising Alliance offers optout.aboutads.info. In Europe, the European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance offers youronlinechoices.eu. These tools rely on cookies themselves, so clearing cookies can undo the choice.
Withdrawing consent stops personalized advertising and the related profiling. It does not remove ads from the site, and it does not delete data that was already collected lawfully. To request deletion of data held by Google, use Google's privacy controls. To ask the site operator a question, write to 2961884811@qq.com.
Clearing cookies and resetting your choice
If you clear cookies, the consent record is removed and the prompt may appear again on your next visit. That is expected: the site cannot remember a choice that has been deleted. Clearing cookies does not affect images you have already downloaded.
Do you have to accept?
No. Rejecting advertising cookies does not block the tools, and the site remains usable without an account. In regions where consent is required, advertising should not load until you make a choice. Outside those regions, you can still use the controls above to limit personalized advertising.
Changes to this policy
This page will be updated if the cookie categories, advertising provider, or consent setup changes. The date at the top will change with it. Because advertising is the main source of cookies on the site, the policy must be re-checked whenever an ad partner is added or the consent configuration is modified.
